RCCG - Tegucigalpa Joint Project

This blog is on behalf of Catarina Jimenez, International Service Chair, RCCG.

The newspaper article below (in Spanish) highlights the delivery of the wheelchairs RCCG worked hard to send to Honduras during PP Wiley's year 2009 - 2010. The Rotary Club of Coral Gables is recognized in the main paper of the Honduran capital for its contributions to helping 100 Hondurans with specialized wheelchairs. RCCG was able to raise US $16,500 to purchase a container of wheelchairs from the Wheelchair Foundation. $9,500 of the funds came from individual contributions from RCCG's members, club's foundation and international committee's budget. The Tegucigalpa Club contributed $2,000, RI District 6990 contributed $2,000 and $3,000 came from a generous anonymous donor. RCCG looks forward to visiting many of the beneficiaries on a humanitarian trip to Tegucigalpa later this year. Hopefully other Rotarians in the district will join in. A goal is to visit the town of Copan, where help will be provided to 80 families that lack stoves to boil water and cook food. Funds consist of $2000 from Rotary contributions, $1000 from RCCG's foundation and international committee; and $1000 from RI District 6990.

That's what we Rotarians do! Congratulations to all who are involved with this project. Keep up the good work!
