Saturday, February 8th at MetroZoo |
Coral Gables Rotarians once again stepped out to support the Chapman Partnership with their 3rd annual “Run Wild” 5K
race at the Miami Metrozoo.
Since 1995, the Chapman
Partnership has been offering services to empower homeless residents to become
self-sufficient. They have helped to reduce the number of homeless from 8,000
people in 1992 to 840 people in 2013, according to a recent census. They
currently have a staff of 165 employees and rely on the 19,000 volunteers each
year.
Saturday, February 8th dawned - but Rotarians arrived long before it did! Our job, to assist the runners and the event organizers with all of the many jobs so necessary when you're staging a 5K. Water stations, t-shirts, chips, runner's registration. The list of jobs is endless.
Many thanks to the Rotarians who volunteered at the zoo
event long before sunrise! Keith Phillips,
Bill Quesenberry, Heather Shatzel and Lorraine Sheldon.
