Outbound RYE Student Robbed, Has a Happy Ending

We received this letter in response to the $165 we raised for this RYE Student:

Thank you all . . . I will tell you, as a personal friend of this fantastic family, this young man has gone from complete devastation to near-elation: he kept asking why this happened to him . . . I said there was a reason - He is seeing that reason -- a string of community leaders throughout South Florida who are banding together to remedy a "bad things happen to good people" situation.

His family worked so hard to get him what he needed to proudly represent the Lower FL Keys as an exchange student - they simply did not have the resources to do it all again in just a few days.

With help from a great many people, Spencer has replaced most of what he lost; thanks to Ileana Ros-Leihtinen's marvelous staff, he got his passport and visa replaced in one day; he is to board a plane to Sao Paulo, Brazil this Monday - only a week later than originally planned. He has witnessed a miracle, thanks to people like you and your fellow Rotary members.

"Thank you" doesn't begin to express the gratitude from this family, and from Spencer. But, for people like you, who are used to giving, it is enough. So, thank you.

Sincerely,
Tammy Germain
Past President
Big Pine & Lower Keys Rotary Club
