Vol. 66 No.19 Notes From the Podium

President's Time

The President was busy today.  She was "playing" golf.  But apparently she had a really good time and is planning to get involved in the sport for real!  Executive privilege.

There wasn't a microphone and there wasn't really a formal meeting but we did have a really good time.  Plentiful fellowship abounded.

Debbie yelled a few announcements so we wouldn't feel left out of the loop. The most important is that next week, when we're back at our usual digs, we're having Coconut Grove and Miami Rotary Clubs for lunch with us and the GSE Team that just arrived from Australia.  You won't want to miss this one.  It's your Foundation dollars at work, building goodwill and better friendships.

Be sure to sign up for our favorite Service Project, Thanksgiving at Community Partnership for the Homeless.  For details contact Deena or Frank Sexton.  We bought the food. They cook it.  We serve it.  Don't miss it.

Determined, intuitive, powerful, compulsive and obstinate are just a few of the traits to be found in Scorpio natives.  Say Happy Birthday this week to David Mitchell (today!) Dick Golden on the 5th, Carol Alexander the 6th, Don Slesnick the 7th and Frank Quesada on the 9th of November. Lots of Scorpios in Coral Gables!

 Also, David Mitchell is celebrating his Rotary Anniversary this week.  (seen here at today's Golf luncheon).  Twelve years of service to Rotary and to our Club.  Congratulations and thank YOU! Past President David.

The 8th Annual
Rotary Golf Classic Awards....

The guys from Turbana won the prize for the longest shot and the closest to the tee...

The highest scoring foursome was the fearsome Rotary Four, Bob Schreiber, Walter Alvarez, Brent Nagle and Gene Witherspoon.  Congratulations guys!

The Rotary Foundation
Helicopter Golf Ball Drop

Since our District already met it's PolioPlus contribution goals, it was decided that we would continue the Golf Ball Drop, only this year the proceeds go to the Annual Programs Fund.

Tickets were sold to Rotarians throughout the District for $25 each which was then credited to your Paul Harris account with RI. A win/win for sure!  The helicopter began it's approach to the tee promptly at 1:30 p.m.

2nd runner up       #5904 - Margarita Tonkinson, Rotary Coral Gables
The winners will be notified tomorrow as to how to claim their prizes.

Remember, the closest to the pin wins their choice of:  Five days/four nights at Hawk’s Cay Resort, Florida Keys & Sunset Cruise for two  OR  Five days/four nights at Hyatt Regency Coconut Point, Bonita Springs, & dinner for two    Second closest to the pin wins the remaining prize of the two;
Third closest to the pin wins: Sunday Brunch for four at The Biltmore Hotel
