A Night on the Red Carpet

Our Club's 2011-2012 Gala Fund Raising event was Friday night at the Coral Gables Country Club.  Chair of the event,  Margarita Tonkinson put together a fun evening of drinking, dancing, dining and fellowship that ably entertained the 100+ people in attendance.

The co-beneficiary for the event was Citizens for a Better South Florida and they were well represented too.  Attending from Citizens, in addition to Arsenio Millan and his wife, was the Phantom of the Opera, Cleopatra (not the Rotary version), and the Keystone Cops, among others.

Winners of the best costume "Oscars" were Elvis Presley (Bill Beckham), the Queen of Hearts (Gloria Burns) and the Keystone Cops.  However, the winners were not a slam dunk, but rather a difficult choice with such favorites as Indiana Jones, Phantom of the Opera, Kermit and Miss Piggy, Godfather & his Moll and of course Anthony & Cleopatra.

The proceeds from the evening will be split between the two organizations 50/50.  In addition, our club raised another $5,000 on the excellent silent auction items provided by Lorraine Sheldon.
