Alfalit International 50th Anniversary Dinner

Alfalit is Recognized by
Representative Illeana Ros-Lehtinen
for 50 Years of Service.

Alfalit operates in 22 countrieson three continents.  They have taught more than seven million people how to read in the past 50 years, enrolling more than 125,000 new students every year.

Alfalit is one of the organizations that partners with Rotary International because they have a system and a program in place that changes lives.  It is a proven and time honored program.  Donations to Alfalit are donated to Rotary and the funding is matched by District and International Literacy Grants.

Alfalit donates some $50,000 in our Club's Foundation every year that is matched and distributed throughout the hemisphere, changing lives in the name of  Alfalit and the Rotary Club of Coral Gables.  That's why our District Governor, Todd Dayton (and Wendy) joined President Debbie (and John), Sally B (and Larry), Yolanda, Andrea Fusero and Andrea Covre at the Hotel Intercontinental on Saturday night ... to show our appreciation and support for this very worthwhile organization.

Thanks too to Carol Brock for her untiring efforts on behalf of both organizations.  It's what Service Above Self is all about.  Thanks to the efforts of our two organizations, Lyberia may achieve 100% literacy within the next few years.  Our support changes lives!
