A Little History of Your Rotary Club
Most of us know that Rotary was founded in Chicago in 1905, but how many know where the second club was established in 1908? Would you believe, San Francisco? In 1909 the third club was founded across the bay in Oakland, California. Today that old club has over 350 members. It makes a very good makeup meeting if you're ever over that way. The fourth club was established in Seattle in 1909, a club which today has over 700 members. Before crossing the border into Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada (this made Rotary International ) in 1910, Rotary skipped down to Los Angeles, another interesting make-up club with 500 members. When you're out that way, pop into one of these ancient Rotary Clubs for an interesting make up meeting.
